I remember feeling a little depressed the year I transitioned from college to work and had to renew my entire wardrobe. My first work was at a large company, I was the youngest in the team and my work basically consisted in doing interviews to people much older than I was. My colleagues dressed formally and I changed my wardrobe according to all those factors and then one day I looked at it (with observing eyes) and didn’t see me in any of that. For a person that considers the way you a dress a form of self-expression like many others, I was shocked with myself. I then began to infuse my little touches in that working wardrobe to match my well-behaved and feminine (/romantic?) meets functional style always being careful to pick versatile pieces (limited budget anyone?).
This post is like a million exercises I did at the time. Working wardrobe doesn’t have to be depersonalized, it’s possible to dress appropriately and still be faithful to our personal style. Do you agree?
