The Perfect Burgundy Lipstick

most beautiful burgundy lipstick Estee Lauder Black Cassis

My love affair with lipstick is legendary. I have my lipsticks scattered throughout the house, suitcases, drawers, my handbags…
I have such an addiction for lipstick that I’d rather forget my iPhone at home than forget to bring lipstick with me!

Am I alone in the world?

I once read a study that says the average woman eats about 9 to 13 pounds (4 to 6 kilos) of lipstick in a lifetime. I must eat at least twice. = / Disturbing to say the least!

Anyway, for those of you who are looking for the perfect burgundy shade (AKA the-must-have A/W-12 colour) I decided to share my absolute favourite: Black Cassis from Estée Lauder, that I brought home after experimenting TONS of burgundy shades from all sorts of brands.
I also ADORE Film Noir by MAC Cosmetics  but it doesn’t seem to match my yellow undertone skin very well.

Candy Coated

Pastel nails: Mavala in Fresh Melon, Chanel Limited Edition in Mimosa, Mavala in Blue Mint Mint, Essie in Mint Candy Apple, Chanel in Lilac Sky

I can’t believe I was once a “shy” and reserved person nail-projects wise. Those days are long gone as I’m growing bolder and bolder (I’m actually afraid of myself. I mean…what’s coming next?).

As my love affair with pastel tones grows stronger I decided to do some sort of a pastel nail rainbow and here’s what it looks like!

Eye-catching for sure!

pastel coloured macaroons

If you want to do something like this, here’s what I used (first picture, from left to right):

1. Mavala in Fresh Melon (another one also beautiful here): // 2. Chanel Limited Edition in Mimosa // 3. Mavala in Blue Mint Mint (cool one here)// 4. Essie in Mint Candy Apple // 5. Chanel in Lilac Sky (beautiful&cheaper one here)

Who doesn’t love a maximum impact and easy-to-do nail project?

If you don’t have 5 different pastel coloured nail polishes but you have a similar shade something that might work is to mix that colour with a little white nail polish until it gets more pastelly.

My must-have scent this season: Chanel nº 19 Poudré.

What do you think of my latest nail venture? Have you ever tried anything like that?

Let me know!

BB Cream & Girls Night In

I had girlfriends visiting yesterday’s night and this meant home cooked dinner, a little bit of gossiping and plenty of girl-talk and catching up!

I’m censuring our chat’s spicy details but there’s something I feel the urge to share as we had quite an extensive conversation about BB Creams.

Have you ever tried those?

BB Cream

I was aware that the three of us use the same BB Cream (Miracle Skin Perfector by Garnier) but it was somewhat interesting to realize that we have different thoughts about this kind of product.

Being so, I asked them to share with us their thoughts because when skincare and make-up are concerned tastes vary so much and things that work for one person may not necessarily work with other people, isn’t it?

My dear friend Cleo from the blog Tyrony is a fearless product experimenter like me but in a better skin version. As she says: “Sometimes time (& patience) runs short to apply the make-up. BB creams are a pearl to those of us who enjoy that extra minutes in bed, but still want to look flawless in no time! I’d highly recommend these.”

I could not agree more with her!

My girl Gabi has worked for some years in the beauty field so I really take her word on this field, not to mention she’s extremely demanding. As she says: “The finishing of the foundation doesn’t always turn out as desired: not rarely foundation or compact powder lead to artificial and aged looks. Since I discovered the BB cream I leave the foundation application for the colder months. Nonetheless, because I have oily skin on the T-zone I apply loose powder after BB Cream for a perfect result.”

For me a BB cream is something between a foundation and a treatment cream: it lightly covers imperfections without having a “mask” effect. Can be used as make-up foundation or even replace them. (Even its application is similar to the foundation application.)

BB Creams: Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector, Smashbox Camera Ready, Clinique Age Defense BB Cream, DiorSnow BB Cream, Estee Lauder Daywear BB

Hot BB Creams (Always make sure you choose the right shade for your skin tone!)

1. Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector // 2. Smashbox Camera Ready // 3. Clinique Age Defense BB Cream // 4. DiorSnow BB Cream // 5. Estee Lauder Daywear BB

I’ve only tried the Garnier one so far and I really like its texture. It does not cover as much as a foundation would, so it is not the best option for those who want great coverage power. However, it is excellent for those who do not usually use foundation but want to sublimate  skin tone and make it more even without a heavy look.

On another note, the night was too much fun, dinner was great, much due to Gabi’s cuisine know-how (boy, is that girl gifted!).

Our plan was to watch a film after dinner but we ended up surfing the internet 6 hands (don’t try this at home!).

I even got introduced by one of them to Foxy Bingo: an experience you’ll love if you’re into playing bingo online. I’m not much of a gambler myself but I admit I had FUN!

Time flies when you’re having fun, hey? Gotta make sure we’ll be repeating this sometime soon!!

What’s your take on BB Creams? Do share :)

Power Couple

Chanel Biphase eye make-up remover and Hypnose waterproof mascara by lancome

I remember feeling bad at a young age for having such long and thick lashes. Much longer and thicker than my girlfriends of the same age.

As years gone by I understood that abnormally long and voluminous is actually a GREAT thing!

I then started to enhance my eyelash-power by experimenting with several mascaras and got addicted to the most powerful of them all: Hypnose by Lancome (Waterproof version)!

And because with great mascara waterproof power comes…trouble taking it off I got myself the OVERPOWERING  Gentle Biphase Eye Make-up Remover by Chanel (the best I tried so far!)

This power couple with a little help from the MAC eyelash curler

et voilá…natural eyelashes that seem falsies!

I’m now extremely grateful to Mother Nature (and to cosmetic industry) for blessing me with this mighty eyelashes!

What do you do to enhance yours?
